Muscle relaxant is injected into the treatment area to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles. Antiaging injectors use the very best quality muscle relaxing injections on the market. In my skin offers full consultation and assessment prior to any treatment. After the injection, it takes about 5-7 days to notice the effect and 10 days for the full effect. Although the muscle relaxant anti-wrinkle injections have been used safely for many years, they should not be used in pregnancy, lactating mothers and some other medical conditions. It is very important to tell your cosmetic practitioner if you have health problems or if you take any medications prior to treatment.

Although side effects do occasionally occur Letitia and her team of Cosmetic Doctors take particular care to minimise them. For some clients, the more often you have the treatment the less frequently treatment is required as the effects may last longer with each application.

MUSCLE RELAXANTS can be used in the following areas;

- Lines and wrinkles on the upper face Frown Lines (between the eyes),

- Crow’s Feet (lines on the sides of the eyes),

- Horizontal brow lines,

- Eyebrow lifts,

- Migraine management,

- Excessive sweating in the palms, feet and underarms.

Nefertiti lift is a non-surgical lower face lift, that can achieve brilliant results. Including lifting sagging jowls, soften marionette lines and sharpen the jaw line. This allows muscles on the upper face to lift the lower face creating a more defined jaw line. The Nefertiti Lift has a duration of effect of 4-6 months. There is no recovery period and you can return to normal duties immediately.

Enlarging and opening up eyes, softening lines under eyes, softening the lines in the neck, softening and improving drooping mouth corners can all be achieved using muscle relaxing injections.

Bruxism is the medical term for grinding, gnashing or clenching your teeth. This involves using the same muscle relaxant injections that have been used for over 15 years to treat facial wrinkles and other medical conditions.

Dermal Fillers.jpg

Dermal Fillers restore some of that beautiful look of bursting vibrancy to even the most mature face.

Once injected the gel plumps and lifts the skin gently to replace the collagen that has been lost by the natural aging process. Semi-permanent fillers work by creating an internal framework (or scaffolding) on which new collagen and elastin can attach creating the structure, tone and firmness for a more youthful appearance. Although the dermal fillers have been used for many years they should not be used in pregnancy, lactating mothers and other medical conditions. It is very important to tell your cosmetic practitioner if you have health problems or if you are taking any medication prior to treatment.

At In my skin, we prefer a natural enhancement that will leave you with fuller lips that look just like you were born with them!

Cheeks are a very important feature of the mid-face and tend to flatten with age. This leads to the formation of jowls (the sag around the chin area), and nasolabial lines (the line from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth). Replacing volume in the cheeks is one of the most important areas to fill when rejuvenating the face. With poor cheek volume, the face can appear flattened and lack the natural youthful curves provided by fuller cheeks. Additionally, the mid cheek can support the lower eyelid, and in most cases, plumping the cheeks can improve the appearance of under eye bags!

Tear troughs, or the hollows that under the lower eyelid can also be treated. This helps to smooth the area between the lower eyelids and the cheek, and therefore reduce the appearance of under eye hollows and/or fatty bulges.

Dermal Fillers usually last between 9-18 months, depending on skin type, lifestyle and skin maintenance. Side-effects of dermal filling may include some swelling, redness and occasional bruising. This will usually disappear within a couple of days although bruising can last up to 10-14 days.

Mono threads are single smooth threads that are placed under the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production, in turn tightening the skin, improving sagging tissue and facial contours.
Mono Thread treatment is minimally invasive for many areas on the face, neck, chest, and other areas of the body.
After a topical numbing cream is applied the threads are placed under the skin via a needle. The threads are made from PDO (polydioxanone), the same material used in surgery to close wounds. They dissolve over time stimulating collagen and elastin production and strengthen the surrounding tissue, achieving a tightening effect.  A few months after treatment clients feel a refreshed and voluminous effect as the skin feels and appears tighter and firmer.

Once the needle is removed the threads remain in place for up to 12 months and then slowly dissolve. They start dissolving at approximately 3 months but the collagen stimulation can last up to 12 months. This long-lasting effect is due to improvement of the skin condition due to the stimulation of collagen and elastin.
An improvement may be observed immediately after treatment with a visible plumping effect in the treated areas. 6wks is recommended for full effect.
This will improve over a period of 3-6 months as new collagen is produced between the threads, thereby exerting further tightening to the skin.
Mono threads usually dissolve within approx. 200 days, however they induce new collagen by release of growth factors and fibroblast activation which can last for 6 months- 2 years depending on the patient’s condition.
Retreatment is recommended at approx. 6 months

Cog threads have anchors that hook into the tissue to support and lift the sagging skin.

This is known as a non-surgical face lift.

A consultation is required prior to treatment so you can discuss your concerns with Letitia who will develop a personalised treatment plan, specifically for you. During your consult she will explain the procedure, answer any questions you may have, and after your assessment explain the potential results from Thread Lifting. During consultation, you will be advised of the thread type suitable for your skin.

The procedure is performed in clinic and does not require any incisions or sedation. A local anaesthesia will be injected at entry points and the procedure itself is virtually painless. The Threads are inserted just below the dermis using a long, soft needle or cannula. The skin is gently but firmly remodelled and the threads tightened into position. The unique little barbs connect with tissue and retain skin in the new compressed position. The sensation of threading is much like a standard dermal filler procedure using a micro-cannula.

Treatment time will vary between 30-60 minutes, depending on the type and extent of the condition. While there may be some immediate improvements depending on the types of Thread that are used, all treatment procedures will result in continued improvement in your skin’s elasticity for the next 2-3 months. The Threads themselves will dissolve after just 12 months, but results will last for up to 2 years.

Post Treatment:

There is minimal  downtime following a Thread Lift procedure for most patients, however, swelling or bruising may occur. We recommend the following post-treatment:

  • Apply cold packs immediately after if required

  • Take paracetamol for 2-3 days

  • Sleep face-up and elevated on pillows for 3-5 nights

  • Keep the treated area clean for 5 days, avoid makeup for 1 day

  • Book in to use our LED Healite in clinic to speed the recovery process

Immediately after treatment, the area will be numb for several hours, so it is important not to drink, eat or manipulate the treatment area until you regain sensation. The treatment area may be red, swollen and bleed briefly, resulting in some bruising. Do not schedule any major events on the day of, or for two weeks following treatment, to allow for any bruising or swelling to subside.

After the anesthetic wears off, there may be some transient pain and discomfort, especially a tight, pulling feeling if you had the lifting procedure. These feelings usually ease within a week and can be controlled with medication.

You should also schedule a review appointment with Letitia two weeks after receiving treatment, at which point further treatment may be required to achieve the desired outcome.
